            Tony's story

Sept, 11 2011,  8:30 am boarded a plane in Toronto to Lax, landed in LA 10:30 am LA time, Patrick our driver/tour guide was there to pick us up.

went to an "In and Out" for burgers and fries (really good) then checked in to the Ayres Hotel.

-Sept. 12, 10:00 am Newport Diagnostic Center for MRV, went well no problems thanks to sedation! Then to Synergy Health Concepts, for pre-procedure consultation. Met Dr. Nina Grewal, she explained that they found restricted blood flow in both jugular veins at the valves, and a constricted azygos vein between the heart and spine.

-Sept. 13 6:30 am Renaissance Surgical Arts at Newport Harbor, got prepped for surgery, great nurses!  Proceedure took about 1 hour and all went well, opened both jugulars by ballooning & cutting the valves, and ballooning azygos vein. Proper blood flow restored.

-Sept. 14 10:15 am Synergy Health Concepts post procedure consult, Dr. Grewal says everything went as it should. She was confident that the valves would stay open an blood would flow normally from the brain.

-Sept. 15 I am already able to bend my knee while walking and have a bit more energy, I feel great!!

-Sept. 16 My tremors in my hands  are not as bad, espescially in the morning.

Did some sight seeing, including Newport Beach Pier, Huntington Beach Pier where we rented a 4 man bike and took a dip in the ocean, Long Beach,  ate at Dukes, Joes Crab Shack,  explored the  Russian Submarine “Scorpion” alongside of the Queen Mary in Long Beach and the Aquarium of the Pacific also at Long Beach.

Sept. 17 flew home, happy with the outcome and with hope that my MS will not progress!

A special thanks to Pacific Transportaion Solutions!

A huge burden of stress was taken off our hands by Pacific Transportation solutions! It was a big and an intimidating decision to go out of our country to seek medical treatment for our son Tony. Kelly at Pacific Transportation Solutions  (PTS) was wonderful, all I had to do is give her the dates of Tony's appointments and she presented me with flight, hotel, and transportation options. Everything was booked in no time, she even helped calm my last minute jitters with great advice and assurance that everything was taken care of.

When we got to California we found Patrick Igoe from Pacific Transportation Solutions waiting for us, what a relief seeing his smiling face ready to assist us! Patrick & Max were our drivers, tour guides and friends. Patrick kept us apprised of appointment times, pickup times and ushered us promptly to and from and even took us on fun sight seeing side trips!  Our whole experience was relaxing and with the travel worries out of the way we could concentrate on our son turn an otherwise scary situation into a positive experience!

Thank you Kelly, Patrick and Max at PTS

I have Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis (PPMS) and am 23 years old. Basically I have been sentenced to a life of gradual disability, pain & frustration. I am not able to work, drive & do the things a man in his 20’s should be able to do. So far in Canada there are no treatments available for PPMS beyond the 3 years of chemotherapy, which I have already received.

There is a treatment that 1000’s of MS patients have been getting all over the world with great results. It is angioplasty for CCSVI which is a condition that an Italian doctor has found that seems to be associated with MS; this treatment is “controversial” here in Canada so not available until years of study have been completed. I want this treatment ASAP as every day I suffer irreversible damage. I am from a hard working family and not being able to work or follow my dreams is devastating. I even thought of becoming a writer but even that is just beyond my reach because of the brain fog, memory problems and shaky hands.

I have to try this, if it gives me some relief or stops the progression, that would be the greatest gift, if it does nothing I am still where I am now but I will know I have tried every option. It is my only hope at this time.

My family and I humbly ask for your help with a small donation to my expenses, as we are forced to go to another country and pay for the treatment, the costs will be around $18,000.00.
